CORPORATE STORYTELLING: VF CORPORATION

I  have begun work to preserve VF Corporation’s history. Since its founding in 1899, as the Reading Glove and Mitten Manufacturing Company, VF Corporation has created garments. Today VF Corporation is known for Lee and Wrangler jeans, The North Face, and Nautica (to name a few of their brands), but one of their original factories produced hosiery.

Located Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, the hosiery factory has been operating as an outlet mall since the 1970s. VF Corporation recently sold the structures for redevelopment.

Prior to the site’s redevelopment, Blind Eye Restoration extracted architectural elements that depict the company’s history, and create a digital database of archival documents.

Utilizing historic documents and architectural elements, I will create an exhibit at VF Corporation’s headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina. The architectural elements removed from the factory will be integrated into the corporate campus to create interactive storytelling.

I look forward to working  with VF Corporation to preserve their history and further develop corporate pride. The photo above is an example of the original flooring in the dye house.
